Down with gastric flu ): The worst kind of flu to get because of the occasional need to throw up and the inability to eat properly. But I just found out yesterday that technically, it's not a type of flu but an inflammation of the G.I. tract.
Hopefully I'll be well enough to go to school tomorrow. The past 2 days have been quite bad, it took alot of effort to clear 3 hours worth of webcasts, and today I just missed anat pract. So much to catch up on ):
I was googling the names of the pills I've been taking, one of which is dhamol (otherwise known as acetaminophen). Sound familiar?
It apparently blocks the synthesis of prostaglandins so that mediates the anti-inflammatory, anti-pain and anti-fever effects. But that means increased risk of gastric ulcers because less prostaglandins means less regulation of mucous layer of stomach, and increased risk of liver failure in the case of an overdose because of glutathione depletion during the process of detoxification.
The paranoia of it all gets to me, however silly it may sound. Annie told me a few days ago about this medical students' syndrome, thinking that you've all the pathologies that you study. I could attest to that fact :/
