I haven't practiced my narrative skills for more than 2 months! The holidays have been busy, fruitful and fulfilling so there wasn't too much to grouse about (:
Highlights of M1 holidays:
1. OG Johore Trip
Johore was an affordable place, we managed to bowl and karaoke and paint ball and eat and shop all within an acceptable budget. Hanging out with the OG for a day was nice too, apart from the fact that we only know how to suan each other and talk nonsense haha.
2. SBA Concert 2010
The evenings after Pros were mostly spent at Waterloo Street rehearsing. It had been a tiring journey, nearly 5 months of throwing ourselves on the floor, slamming, dunking and woodcutting during late rehearsals. It got especially bad during the exam period. But I would never regret being a part of the experience, whether it was buying KOI bubble tea before class or gossiping about administration or spending hours in the studio rehearsing/packing costumes and make up/screaming at little kids because the company was worth everything (:
3. Medicamp 2010
Being part of the Amazing Race comm was really fun, got to know new people and got to laugh at all the things that went wrong especially during trial camp. Glad the race went well in the end. Trial camp was all kinds of dirty and tiring, and our OG went out of the way to make life difficult for the organizing comm haha. Medicamp itself was tiring, but fun in certain ways. Playing silly games with the junior OG, consciously (but not so successfully) making an effort not to expose our moles, throwing floor bombs at each other, dunking people, talking alot of crap, and spending the nights in our room counting money for post camp cip. I particularly remember the last night after watching Germany vs. Spain when our whole OG got high and started throwing pillows at one another, pushing people off the bed, making alot alot of noise, then pretended to be jumping jelly beans in our sleeping bags, going into our juniors' rooms and did the mass dance. That was epic haha (:
4. Post Camp CIP 2010
Despite my earlier reluctance, I'm really glad I had a chance to be part of the Organizing Comm. It was crazy just preparing for the event; calling up sponsors and profs, getting message and call spams by Boss, late nights during Medicamp discussing stuff and counting money, running around on the actual day chasing people for forms. But it was quite meaningful getting to talk to the households, looking at their family conditions and realizing how fortunate we really are. I'm glad the event went well, all thanks to our very responsible bosses (:
5. Rag Dance
I told myself after Rag last year I wouldn't do it again, but as fate has it, I inadvertently got involved. It's not too bad, I'm only helping abit in choreography for couple dance and it's quite fun interacting with the dancers. I really admire Bern and Ju for getting the whole thing going. So much effort is involved.
6. BUTS
We only had 5? rehearsals before the actual performance, compared to 50 for the SBA concert. I thought it looked quite uncoordinated, but it turned out surprisingly well on the Saturday performance. Staying to watch BUTS on Sunday was alot of fun. Eating nutella by the spoonfuls straight out of the pot. I thought the pas de deux by Rosa Park and Ma Dian Ling was so amazing. Chihiro was crazy too. And not to mention, we had so much food and junk and space.
7. KL
The shopping in KL is really good, particularly in Sungei Wang Plaza and the streets in Bangsar. Sungei Wang was very near our hotel and it's like Far East Plaza but much bigger and much more affordable. Bangsar had many small vintage boutiques like Haji Lane, and I absolutely love the concept. The trip was rather tiring cause we walked alot, but we also shopped and ate alot :D And I'm glad I had the company, especially the HTHTs on the last night and the journey home (:
8. Most Successful Class Outing
Finally watched Despicable Me! It's so entertaining, and I'm in love with the minions (especially the glow in the dark one hahaha). Dinner was at some Jap restaurant, and it was really nice just catching up. It was nostalgic just reliving our IP days, the times where we were running up and down the corridor, playing poker cards, staying back to do projects. We've grown so much since then.
9. Hong Kong
HK was probably the best trip I've ever had, not withstanding the fact that this was one of my first trips with friends. Weet's epic brain lag moments, Laine's refusal to go under an umbrella even though it was POURING, Waw's auntie moments, singing Disney songs, playing with multishots, searching for dimsum and naihuangbaos and naicha :D We did quite alot of sightseeing too, and I enjoyed every moment even though it was hot and there was so much walking to do. The company really made all the difference (:
School's staring D: I can feel all the rust accumulating in my brain after the months of playing. I'm not sure what Year 2 will bring, and I'm scared at the prospect of not being able to cope with everything that is being thrown at me. But I'm sure, and I trust, that God will provide. Just as He has always done.
