Just got back from Stockholm.
The first thing that struck when we got there was how expensive everything was, twice or thrice more than Singapore. A simple 500ml bottle of Coke costs 20krowns ($5). Every meal we had amounted to nearly $100, even for simple fare like fast food. Something about high cost of living and high tax being a welfare state, I can't understand the politics of that, but I can understand how painful it is not being able to shop normally since everything costs a bomb. No wonder they like flying.
Oh well, twas a pretty beautiful place. But within 2 days dad got bored of the city so we hired a car and drove to some small town 600km away called Sveg. It was Christmas eve and we spent 2 hours looking for some place which was open because as mentioned, during the festive season, everything closes. Found a hotel owner kind enough to come down to settle the admin work for us, and on Christmas day we went to Bjornrike for skiing :D
Those ski boots were harder to put on than pointe shoes, and they were harder to move in than bourre-ing in pointes. I underestimated the power of those blade like things and slid down the beginners slope, only to crash into the wooden fence at the side, earning weird stares because even the little kids about 3-5 years old could ski.
But anyway, it hurts like mad when you fall because you nearly break your knee. So dad decided to hire us a ski instructor :D hahah once you get the hang of it it's fun luh. You go so fast the wind is real refreshing and uhhh, it's a satisfying experience (:
Though I conclude ski-ing is terrible for ballet because it weakens your knee. I can't imagine what would've happened if I'd broken mine >.<
After 3 days of ski-ing, we went back to Stockholm for last minute (window-)shopping. Everything closed at 4, so it was pretty pointless. But we couldn't have spent much anyhow, so. My biggest take-away from this holiday is the ski-ing, and the fear of breaking my knee :D
I shall update the pictures on FaceBook when I have the time, because a day ago I accessed my mail for the first in a long time, saw Mr Chan's many many emails and my face turned blue. MY SSEF REPORT IS DUE ON THE 3RD.
Plus I'll be so ooper busy with dance my H3 report is going to screw itself up too. My fault for hating the whole process of the research attachment and for not perfecting the darn report earlier.
But so what if I know I'd done all that wrong. I have 2 days to save myself.
ohmytian, shucks.
