YLTC 2007!

Like Mer predicted, despite the many misgivings and "I want to go home"s, despite rating satisfaction with the camp a nasty 3, I've come to realise I'm actually starting to miss YLTC.

So it was nothing short of what I've expected, strict discipline and nasty moments.
It started off badly with Land Expedition and a heavy downpour. We walked in the rain without umbrellas and raincoats, and got ourselves drenched and cold. The Pulau Ubin part was bad, trekking kilometers with our heavy backpacks. And worst of all, after walking so long, we came in last. It was pretty amusing, actually.

Day 2 was Sea Expedition, many many hours of kayaking. It was real tiring and I got really sunburnt, but it was quite fun lah. Not forgetting the really funny moments when Eugene and I tried to stay at the back of the group and slack.

The next day we had rafting and dragon boating, which were quite enjoyable. I love our group! Raft floated on water :D Dragon boating was spent pondering the chances of the boat capsizing.

Yesterday we did rope obstacles and the like. It was the most scary part of YLTC. I'm really too scared of heights. I did the Challenge Pole and the Flying Fox after all. mytian I swear the first few seconds of 9.81ms-1 acceleration made me feel like I was going to die young. Thank you Wit! (: For reasons more than you can imagine. For being there when I started freaking out, for not complaining when I took such a long time on the high ropes and on the Great-Shaking-Pole, for encouraging me and for encouraging each other (:

Then the group had to wash the toilet, which was such a funny scenario because the girls got chased out of the toilet by the guys and we just stood there like idiots trying to help. It was so funny; we were both helpless and feeling bad for letting the guys do all the work. Our group's guys are really so nice.

So by the time the toilet and the dorm were done, it was 1 plus in the morning. And we woke up at 3 this morning to start preparing for the final challenge.
Got dropped off at Kallang and we walked all the way to NJ, thanks to Ziyang's boyscout abilities (: I'm rather amazed at how we, or rather I, walked for over 2 hours without stopping to rest at all. And the tremendous sense of satisfaction when we arrived at an empty parade square. From always being last to first! (:

Wit got 2nd overall! Pretty funny, but I'm so proud of us :D Who could forget our pathetic 2 points on the scoreboard once upon a land-expedition-and-egg-dropping-competition >.<>.<

ahh well, my thank yous to Group 2, Wit! (:

The 13 of you made YLTC loads more bearable (:
Thank you for always being there for each other, and despite all the setbacks and what not, still continuing to encourage and motivate. And despite being so quiet and stone-ish, we're so comfortable around each other. It's so amazing how 14 very different people could have bonded in 5 short days. I love you much!

I resented being in YLTC during the many uncomfortable and challenging moments, and ever so frequently, I entertained the thought of going home. I didn't like the 100 jumping jacks, push-ups, wet shoes, quick meals, strict routines and little sleep. But YLTC made me realise many many things, and for that, the experience is pretty much priceless (:
